BS. (AT) Anesthesia Technology

Program is aimed at training students to prepare them as qualified physician assistants who will be able to meticulously assist the concerned specialist in handling the various illnesses. This program is a taught course that covers relevant topics and specialized areas of knowledge as opted. The aim of this program is to provide thorough training to the candidates through formal lectures and/or seminars and practical programs which culminate in a one-year internship that finally prepares the student for the rigors of the medical world.

Objectives

This program is a taught course that covers relevant topics and specialized areas of knowledge as opted. The aim of this Program is to provide a thorough training to the candidates through formal lectures and/or seminars and practical programs which culminate in a one year internship that finally prepares the student for the rigors of the medical world.

Objectives 

1. To equip the anesthesia technologist with modern skills and latest technical knowledge to help in health care delivery system and to prepare the graduate for higher studies and research purpose.
2. To introduce the students with anesthesia, its stages, history and Hazards and To give knowledge about different instruments, working principles and its importance for safe anesthesia practice in the health care system.
3. To know Significance of various induction agent, inhaled anesthetic, Muscle relaxant, Reversal agent, Emergency Drugs.
4. To introduce the students about pain management during anesthesia as well as To give knowledge about the patient health problems which impact on the anesthesia,
5. To give the students of pre-operative preparation of the patient and the anesthesia equipment and the investigation require minimizing intra operative risks,
6. To understand pre, intra and post-operative care for Patient with different type of diseases and To understand post-operative care and problems arise and their solution which impact on the physiology of the respiratory, cardio vascular renal and, pain management in the recovery room.

By the end of this course students will be able to monitor vital signs preoperatively. Ensure suitable patient position according to the surgical exposure required.

Program Mission 

The Anesthesia Technology program is an integral unit of the Health Sciences and Human Services department. The program educates the student to assist the Anesthesia team to become a vital member of the multidisciplinary healthcare workforce to ensure the quality of care is provided to every surgical patient. 

Eligibility Criteria

• 50% of marks in Pre-Medical/Medical Technology are required for admission.
• 50% marks in the SZABMU entry test is pre-requite for admission.

Duration

• It is a four-year duration program.
  

Study Scheme

Assessment

The students’ study progress evaluation mechanism is based on continuous assessment throughout the year by giving assignments, quizzes, mid-term, and final term examinations.

Project/Thesis

• Students are required to complete a Project / Thesis in the last Semester.
  

Award Of Degree

To become eligible for the award of a degree, the student is required to obtain a minimum CGPA  of 2.0 out of 4.
